A Branchport woman was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries late Saturday after her vehicle struck a tree in Geneva when she swerved to avoid a deer, according to Ontario County Sheriff’s deputies.
The crash occurred around 11:42 p.m. at the intersection of White Springs Road and Snell Road. Deputies, along with Geneva Police, White Springs Fire Department, and Finger Lakes Ambulance, responded to the scene. Authorities determined that Princess Anthony, 40, of Branchport, was driving south on White Springs Road with five occupants in the vehicle—two adults and three children under 14—when she swerved to avoid a deer and missed a stop sign. The vehicle then collided head-on with a tree.
Anthony sustained fractures to her lower leg and pelvis and was transported by Mercy Flight to Strong Memorial Hospital. Patrick J. Brown, 44, also of Branchport, and one of the children were taken by ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital; they were evaluated but did not report injuries. The oldest child, who complained of lower body and abdominal pain, was transported by LifeNet helicopter to Strong Memorial Hospital.
The driver, Anthony, received a citation for failure to stop at a stop sign.
