Nearly 20 businesses across Monroe County were recently padlocked and marked with “ILLICIT CANNABIS SEIZED” signs after New York’s Office of Cannabis Management (OCM) and local law enforcement targeted unlicensed cannabis sales.
The week-long sweep resulted in multiple raids, including a notable operation at the Irondequoit store Higher Intentions, which was shut down on Oct. 27 after police reported illegal sales on-site.
OCM’s Director of Enforcement, Daniel Haughney, emphasized that the crackdown is part of a broader effort to curb unlicensed sales.
In total, seven arrests were made, with Greece police seizing over $1 million in illicit funds and over 1,000 pounds of illegal products. Haughney noted that businesses involved in unlicensed sales could be barred from future licensing for at least three years under the Marijuana Regulation and Taxation Act.
