This November, Social Security recipients on Supplemental Security Income (SSI) will notice an extra check, thanks to a scheduling adjustment by the Social Security Administration. Typically paid monthly, SSI benefits will arrive twice in November due to December’s payment being issued early, on Nov. 29, since Dec. 1 falls on a Sunday.
SSI, a program aiding low-income seniors and people with disabilities, is separate from Social Security retirement benefits and is funded by the U.S. Treasury. Qualified recipients receive up to $943 monthly, or $1,415 for couples. This payment quirk, seen previously in August, means there will be no December SSI check.
Social Security beneficiaries receiving standard retirement payments will see their funds distributed on the regular schedule. For additional assistance, recipients can check SSA resources, with a streamlined application process also set to roll out in December for new applicants.
