Anthony Volpe’s grand slam helps Yankees stay alive, force World Series Game 5 (highlights)

Anthony Volpe’s third-inning grand slam propelled the New York Yankees to an 11-4 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday night in the Bronx, preventing a World Series sweep and forcing a Game 5.

Gleyber Torres smacked a three-run home run as part of a five-run eighth inning that blew the game open, while Austin Wells added a solo shot in the sixth. Aaron Judge collected an RBI single and Alex Verdugo chipped in a pair of RBI.

Luis Gil gave up four runs in four innings, including home runs to Freddie Freeman and Will Smith. New York’s bullpen held strong, with five relievers combining for five shutout innings of one-hit ball.

Box Score

The Yankees will send Gerrit Cole to the mound on Wednesday at 8:08 p.m. as they look to force a Game 6 back in Los Angeles on Friday. Jack Flaherty will take the ball for the Dodgers.
