A Geneva resident was arrested Thursday after a series of incidents led to multiple charges, the Seneca Falls Police Department reported.
Stephen R. Kennedy, 35, was taken into custody at approximately 11:38 a.m. on Oct. 24 on an active bench warrant. Authorities said the warrant stemmed from his failure to appear in court for violating a Class A order of protection.
During the arrest, officers discovered a white substance on Kennedy, which later tested positive for fentanyl, resulting in a charge of criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree, a Class A misdemeanor. Additionally, Kennedy was charged with petit larceny for allegedly leaving a local business without paying for merchandise.
Police also charged Kennedy in connection with a separate incident from Oct. 22, where he was found with methamphetamine and accused of abandoning an animal. Authorities say Kennedy tied his dog to a tree near Balsley Road and left it unattended. The dog was not harmed and was transferred to the Dog Control Officer for care.
Kennedy was transported to the Seneca County Correctional Facility, where he is awaiting arraignment in the Seneca County Centralized Arraignment Part Court.
