The Canisteo American Legion Post 846 presented a check for nearly $24,000 to the United Way of the Southern Tier’s Steuben County Flood Relief Fund on Wednesday.
The funds were raised through a community event on Sept. 22 featuring live music, auctions, and raffles to support those impacted by Tropical Storm Debby.
Local officials praised the community’s generosity. The flood relief fund, which has now raised about $250,000, provides grants to Steuben County residents affected by the storm.
To date, over $152,000 has been distributed to more than 115 individuals.
