Bath police say they arrested a local judge following an incident involving the chief of police. Village Judge Robert H. Plaskov, 71, was arrested for harassment following an incident at a Village board meeting on October 21. The arrest stems from a physical altercation between Plaskov and the Chief of Police, which occurred during the meeting.
According to the police report, Plaskov initiated a handshake with the Chief but refused to let go, squeezing the Chief’s hand forcefully. When the Chief attempted to pull away, Plaskov allegedly pulled him abruptly, causing the Chief to fall forward and hit his shin on a chair, resulting in pain and requiring him to stabilize himself with other chairs to avoid falling.
The incident, witnessed by multiple people and captured on video, led to Plaskov being charged with harassment in the second degree, a violation. He was processed and released with an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Village court on November 5 at 1 p.m. before a judge who has yet to be determined.
The Bath Police Department has declined to comment further on the matter.
