An Ontario woman was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated following a property damage crash in the Town of Huron on Sunday, according to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.
Elizabeth Kermis, 36, was arrested after deputies responded to a crash on Swoop Landing Road, where she allegedly went off the roadway and struck a dumpster. Deputies reported detecting an odor of alcohol on Kermis, as well as signs of impaired motor functions and slurred speech.
Kermis refused to perform field sobriety tests at the scene and later declined a chemical test after being transported to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office. She was charged with DWI, failure to keep right, leaving the lane unsafely, and obstructed view.
Kermis was held at the Wayne County Jail and is scheduled to appear in Huron Town Court at a later date for arraignment and further proceedings.
