The Ontario County Board of Supervisors are calling for more time to evaluate the future of the county’s landfill before making a final decision.
Although a Dec. 5 vote had been suggested by county officials, most members of the Planning & Environmental Quality Committee believe they need several more months to gather crucial data on waste disposal alternatives.
Some committee members expressed concerns about the lack of detailed information regarding environmental impacts and potential future scenarios.
The landfill’s current permit expires in 2028, leaving time for a thorough evaluation of its future.
