The New York Mets aren’t done just yet as they picked up a season-saving 12-6 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Friday night at Citi Field to force a Game 6 in the National League Championship Series.
Pete Alonso set the tone early, smacking a three-run home run in the first inning. Starling Marte went 4-for-5 with three RBI. Francisco Lindor and Jesse Winker had RBI triples, while Francisco Alvarez, Brandon Nimmo, and Jeff McNeil also plated runs.
Despite the offensive outburst, the Mets’ pitching struggled again. David Peterson failed to make it out of the fourth inning after allowing two runs on six hits and four walks. Reed Garrett gave up three runs and Ryne Stanek surrendered a run before Edwin DÃaz recorded the final six outs.
Game 6 will be Sunday at 8:08 p.m. but neither team has announced their starting pitcher.
