Man arrested for DWI in Aurelius after traffic stop

A Camillus man is facing charges of driving while intoxicated after being stopped by Cayuga County deputies for a traffic violation last week.

At around 9:38 p.m. on October 12, deputies pulled over a U-Haul van in the Town of Aurelius after noticing that its taillights were not illuminated, according to Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck. The driver, identified as Steven D. Soule, was the sole occupant of the vehicle.

During the traffic stop, deputies determined that Soule was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody and charged with driving with a blood alcohol concentration of .08 or higher, a first-offense DWI, and other traffic infractions.

Soule was processed at the Cayuga County Public Safety Building and released on uniform traffic tickets. He is expected to appear in Aurelius Town Court on October 16 at 7 p.m.
