The Penn Yan Village Board has approved a plan allowing the fire-damaged Penn Yan Diner to operate a temporary food truck to help raise funds for its rebuilding, according to The Finger Lakes Times.
The truck will be set up in the Wagner parking lot on Elm Street, using seven parking spots for the truck, tables, and trash cans from mid-October until November 30 or the first major snowfall.
Final approval depends on securing temporary electrical service and paying required fees. Initially, the board rejected placing the truck in front of the diner due to safety concerns.
The diner has been closed since a fire in May.
