Ithaca man arrested for DWI after crashing into utility pole in Owasco

A 76-year-old man from Ithaca has been arrested for driving while intoxicated after crashing his pickup truck into a utility pole in the town of Owasco, according to the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrested Carl F. Moravec on October 10 after responding to a call about a single-vehicle crash on Bristol Avenue near Letchworth Street. Upon arriving at the scene, authorities found Moravec, the lone occupant of the vehicle, and determined that he was under the influence of alcohol.

In addition to DWI, Moravec faces multiple vehicle and traffic-related charges. He was taken to the Public Safety Building, processed, and issued appearance tickets. Moravec is scheduled to appear in Owasco Town Court on October 22 at 6 p.m.
