Firefighters from several departments across Cayuga County responded to a house fire on Sherwood Road in Scipio, according to reports from Cayuga/Seneca Fire Wire. The fire, which involved a single-story, wood-frame double-wide trailer, prompted a large-scale response from numerous local fire units and Southern Cayuga Ambulance.

First responders on the scene reported a working fire, with Scipio initially taking command. Crews from multiple departments, including Poplar Ridge, Long Hill, Moravia, Aurelius, Fleming, Locke, Aurora, Union Springs, and Owasco, were dispatched to the location. A tanker box was also requested to provide additional water supply for the operation.
Firefighters began by attempting an interior attack, advancing hose lines into the structure. However, they were forced to withdraw as the roof began to collapse. With safety concerns heightened, crews shifted to an exterior-only operation.
All responding apparatus had arrived on the scene, and the power to the house was turned off to ensure the safety of the responders. Fire investigators were also called in to assess the cause of the fire, while crews continued to work to extinguish the blaze.
No further details regarding injuries or the extent of the damage were immediately available. Firefighters remained on the scene for several hours to bring the fire under control.
