An early morning incident in the Village of Palmyra has led to the arrest of a local man accused of violating a court-issued protective order.
Authorities report that 43-year-old James J. Dejohn of Johnson Road was taken into custody after Wayne County Sheriff’s deputies observed him with an individual who had a stay-away order against him.
Deputies were responding to reports of a suspicious person on Park Drive around 12:30 a.m. Saturday when they encountered Dejohn. According to officials, he was arrested without incident.
Dejohn has been charged with second-degree criminal contempt, a misdemeanor in New York state that involves disobeying a court order. He was transported to the Wayne County Jail, where he was held pending centralized arraignment processing.
No further details have been released regarding the circumstances of the incident. The investigation is ongoing.
