A year after missing the postseason, the New York Yankees are headed back to the American League Championship Series for the second time in three years.
Gerrit Cole tossed seven innings of one-run ball, Juan Soto, Gleyber Torres, and Giancarlo Stanton had RBI singles as the Yankees held off the Kansas City Royals, 3-1, on Thursday night at Kauffman Stadium in Game 4 of the ALDS.

The bullpen was lights out again as Clay Holmes and Luke Weaver each fired a perfect inning to seal the victory.
The Yankees will face the winner of Saturday’s game between the Detroit Tigers and Cleveland Guardians in the best-of-seven ALCS, which begins Monday night at Yankee Stadium.
