BrucePac, an Oregon-based company, is recalling nearly 10 million pounds of ready-to-eat meat and poultry products due to potential contamination with listeria bacteria. The recall was issued after the U.S. Department of Agriculture detected listeria during routine testing of poultry samples at the company’s Durant, Oklahoma facility. The recall affects 75 products, including grilled chicken breast strips, produced between June 19 and October 8.
These products, shipped to restaurants and food vendors nationwide, have best-by dates ranging from June 19 to October 8, 2025. Consumers are advised to discard any potentially contaminated items stored in refrigerators or freezers. So far, no illnesses have been reported.
Listeria infections, though rare, can be serious, especially for vulnerable populations. Symptoms include fever, muscle aches, and, in severe cases, confusion and convulsions. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports about 1,600 infections and 260 deaths annually due to listeria in the U.S.
