The Avon Chamber of Commerce has honored Livingston County Board Chair and Avon Town Supervisor David LeFeber with its 2024 Citizen of the Year award, recognizing his decades of service and dedication to the local community.
LeFeber received the award at the chamber’s 37th Annual Citizen of the Year Dinner on Oct. 5, held at The Avon Inn. Nominated by his nephew, Collin Hayes, LeFeber was praised for his unwavering commitment to both public service and the family farm he operates in southern Avon.
“I was inspired to nominate him because his years of service deserve recognition,” said Hayes. “He manages the demands of running a family farm while consistently giving back to the community. That dedication, without seeking recognition, is admirable.”
LeFeber, a lifelong resident of Avon, has been the town’s supervisor since 2002 and took on the role of Livingston County Board Chair in 2018. In addition to his public roles, he manages LeFeber Farms, a third-generation dairy farm that spans 1,400 acres. His leadership and community contributions have made him a respected figure in Avon and Livingston County.
In his acceptance speech, LeFeber expressed his gratitude for the honor, sharing that the award reflects the collective efforts of the people he works with. “This award belongs to everyone I work alongside. Avon is a place where neighbors support one another, and everything I’ve accomplished has been through their help and encouragement.”
Beyond his roles in local government, LeFeber is a member of the Avon Rotary and supports numerous community initiatives, further cementing his reputation as a dedicated public servant.
