The New York Yankees offense went silent on Monday night in the Bronx as the Kansas City Royals grabbed a 4-2 victory to even the American League Division Series at a game apiece.
New York jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the third inning on Giancarlo Stanton’s two-out RBI single but Kansas City immediately responded with four runs in the top of the fourth and never looked back.
Jazz Chisholm Jr. added a solo shot in the ninth for the Yankees, who went 1-for-6 with runners in scoring position while leaving eight on base.

Carlos Rodón was cruising through three shutout innings but didn’t make it out of the fourth after allowing four runs on seven hits.
Ian Hamilton, Jake Cousins, Tim Hill, Clay Holmes, Tommy Kahnle, Tim Mayza, and Luke Weaver combined for 5.1 innings.
After a day off Tuesday, the series shifts to Kansas City, where the Yankees will send Clarke Schmidt to the mound for Game 3.
