A Honeoye Falls man was arrested Sunday night on charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated following a rollover crash that left him and his 10-year-old son injured, Ontario County Sheriff’s deputies reported.
Nicholas P. Litchfield, 47, was taken into custody after deputies responded to a single-vehicle accident near the intersection of State Route 65 and Hickory Lane at approximately 8:39 p.m. Authorities said Litchfield was driving a 2020 Hyundai sedan when it veered off the road and overturned. His son was in the passenger seat at the time of the crash.
Both Litchfield and his son were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital by Honeoye Falls Ambulance for treatment of their injuries. Deputies determined Litchfield had been intoxicated while driving with his son in the vehicle, prompting charges of aggravated DWI with a child passenger, a felony offense under New York’s Leandra’s Law.
Litchfield was arrested without incident at the hospital, where he was also issued appearance tickets for child endangerment and multiple traffic violations. He is expected to appear in West Bloomfield Town Court at a later date to face the charges.
