A quick-thinking driver saved the life of a Walworth man after he suffered a heart attack during a bike ride in June. Mark Reissig, an avid cyclist and former teacher, collapsed just 16 miles into his ride when Molly Ames, driving by, noticed something was wrong.
Ames, trusting her instincts, stopped and called 911 as Reissig lost consciousness. Guided by dispatcher Megan Williams, Ames performed CPR for seven minutes until paramedics arrived. Reissig’s heart had stopped for nearly 30 minutes, but thanks to Ames’ swift actions, he survived.
Honored at a town meeting, Reissig praised Ames, calling her his hero. Reissig has since recovered and returned to biking, grateful for the stranger who saved him.
