The Syracuse men’s soccer (3-4-3, 0-2-2 ACC) fell 2-1 to Wake Forest (3-3-3, 1-1-1 ACC) on Friday night at SU Soccer Stadium.
After a scoreless first half, Syracuse took the lead in the 66th minute with Sam Layton’s first career goal, assisted by Brandon Smith. However, Wake Forest responded quickly, scoring twice in the 78th and 80th minutes to secure the win.
Wake Forest outshot Syracuse 15-11, but Syracuse goalkeeper Tomas Hut recorded a season-high six saves to keep the game close.
Syracuse’s loss extends their record in the all-time series against Wake Forest to 3-6-3.
Next, Cuse will travel to Albany for a nonconference match on October 1 at 7 p.m.
