The Syracuse football team suffered its first loss of the season, falling 26-24 to Stanford on Friday night at the JMA Wireless Dome.
The Orange (2-1) took a 24-23 lead with 3:13 remaining in regulation as Kyle McCord found Jackson Meeks for a 13-yard touchdown.
However, the Cuse defense could not get a stop as the Cardinals converted on a 4th and 9 from the Syracuse 45-yard line and got into field goal range for Emmet Kenney, who drilled one right down the middle from 39 yards to give Stanford the win.
McCord completed 27 of his 42 passes for 339 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions, including a pick-six. He also had a 19-yard rushing TD.
Trebor Pena had 10 catches for 101 yards, while Umari Hatcher hauled in three for 84 yards, including a 67-yard score.
