A tractor-trailer crash caused major traffic disruptions on I-86 in Horseheads early Tuesday morning. The crash occurred around 6:30 a.m. when the driver, a 43-year-old from Mexico, New York, struck a guardrail and lost control, leading the truck to catch fire.
The driver sustained minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital.
Authorities reported that no hazardous materials were involved, but the fire sent a large plume of smoke into the air. Westbound traffic was diverted at exit 52A, while eastbound traffic continued through the access lane.
