The Seneca County Board of Supervisors has unanimously approved a new policy requiring comprehensive background checks for appointed county positions. The decision, made at the board’s September 10 meeting, aims to ensure qualified applicants are thoroughly vetted before being hired.
The policy, which was first approved by the board’s Human Resources and Government Operations Committee on August 27, includes checks on credit, criminal history, employment and education backgrounds, and social media activity.
The goal is to identify any potential concerns that could affect employment. Seneca County’s Human Resources Department will oversee the implementation and compliance of these new procedures.
