The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office has reassured the community regarding recent reports of school threats circulating on social media and through traditional media sources. According to Sheriff James L. Allard, while threats are currently under investigation in neighboring Chemung and Broome counties, they do not appear to be related or pose any direct danger to schools within Steuben County.
The Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, will continue to monitor the situation closely. Sheriff Allard emphasized the importance of vigilance, urging parents to discuss safety concerns with their children in an age-appropriate manner and to encourage students to report any suspicious behavior to trusted adults or first responders.
“The safety of our schools remains one of our top priorities,” Sheriff Allard said, reminding the community that schools continue to be among the safest environments for children. The Sheriff’s Office extended well wishes for a safe and enjoyable school year.
