On Saturday, September 21 at 2 p.m., the NYS Equal Rights Heritage Center in downtown Auburn will host National Book Award-winning historian and Harvard professor Tiya Miles. The free event is part of International Underground Railroad Month, honoring Auburn’s rich connection to the Underground Railroad.
Auburn played a pivotal role in the fight for freedom, with over 100 documented sites linked to the Underground Railroad, including Harriet Tubman’s chosen home. Dr. Miles, a Harvard Radcliffe professor, will discuss her work, including her recent book Night Flyer: Harriet Tubman and the Faith Dreams of a Free People.
