Hobart and William Smith Colleges (HWS) have been ranked fourth in the nation for student experience in the Wall Street Journal’s 2025 Best Colleges list. The ranking highlights the Colleges’ exceptional campus facilities, community atmosphere, and diversity, placing HWS among the top 500 institutions in the U.S.
The Wall Street Journal ranking is based on a survey conducted by College Pulse and Statista, focusing on factors such as student housing, mental health support, sustainability, and campus safety. HWS President Mark D. Gearan celebrated the recognition, stating, “This latest news from the Wall Street Journal is welcome recognition of the extraordinary learning environment at HWS.”
This ranking adds to a series of accolades for HWS, including being named first in the nation for service by Washington Monthly and top 20 for happiest students, internships, and career services by The Princeton Review.
