Governor Kathy Hochul announced today that federal assistance through the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is now available for homeowners, renters, and businesses in several New York counties affected by severe weather on July 10, 2024. Eligible residents in Lewis, Essex, and surrounding counties can apply for low-interest SBA disaster loans to aid in recovery efforts.
“Severe weather has become all too common in our state, but we maintain a steadfast commitment to supporting the businesses and communities that make New York special,” Governor Hochul said. Homeowners can apply for up to $500,000 to repair their homes, while businesses may access up to $2 million for property damage or working capital.
The SBA loans aim to help residents and businesses recover from the damage caused by flooding and storms. Applications are available online, and in-person assistance locations will be announced soon. The deadline for physical property damage applications is November 8, 2024, while economic injury applications are due by June 9, 2025.
