Mozaic Unveils Fully Inclusive Community Arts and Technology Center in Auburn

Mozaic, serving the Arc of Seneca, Cayuga, Yates, and Tompkins counties, celebrated the grand opening of its newly renovated Center for Community Arts and Technology (CCAT) in Auburn on August 28. The event, marked by a ribbon-cutting ceremony, drew over 100 visitors eager to explore the $2.8 million facility, which aims to bridge the gap between the community and individuals with disabilities and other barriers.

The CCAT offers a variety of daytime classes, including art, theater, gaming, robotics, yoga, dance, and life skills, tailored for those supported by Mozaic. The center also plans to partner with local businesses to extend similar programs to the broader Cayuga County community after hours.

“We are bringing in experts from the community to teach these classes, ensuring top-quality education for those we support,” said Denise Vreeland, Vice President of Services/COO at Mozaic. “This initiative is helping to bridge the gap of inclusivity.”

The facility’s offerings have garnered praise from local professionals involved in the program. Linda Galbato, owner of Pure Moon Yoga, expressed her excitement about introducing yoga to individuals who might not have had access before. Similarly, Mary Jo Pelc, a dance teacher with over three decades of experience, shared her enthusiasm for working with Mozaic’s participants, noting their growth in confidence and skill.

In addition to the arts, the CCAT is collaborating with the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) to provide advanced training in technology and gaming, including game creation and robotics. These programs are designed to help participants develop skills that could lead to future employment in the technology sector.

Mozaic is inviting the community to collaborate with the CCAT and support its mission through donations, which are currently being matched by the Golisano Foundation up to $75,000. For more information, visit Mozaic.org/ccat.
