Thompson Hospital Earns National Recognition for Excellence in Stroke Care

F.F. Thompson Hospital, an affiliate of UR Medicine, has been honored with the American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke GoldPlus quality achievement award. This recognition highlights the hospital’s dedication to providing high-quality stroke care based on nationally recognized, research-driven guidelines, ultimately improving patient outcomes and reducing disability.

Stroke ranks as the fifth leading cause of death and a major cause of disability in the United States. The condition occurs when a blood vessel carrying oxygen and nutrients to the brain becomes blocked or bursts, leading to the death of brain cells. Early detection and treatment are critical to enhancing survival rates, minimizing long-term effects, and speeding up recovery.

“Thompson is committed to improving patient care by adhering to the latest treatment guidelines,” said Alice Taylor, Thompson Health’s Quality Assurance Stroke/Sepsis Coordinator. “The Get With The Guidelines program enables our teams to apply proven knowledge daily, helping patients recover more effectively and live longer, healthier lives.”
