A fire broke out at the Cayuga Inn at the Finger Lakes last week after an E-bike battery exploded, scattering flames across a second-floor room. Crews responded to the scene on William Street at 5:52 p.m. on August 15, following reports of a possible fire and explosions.

Firefighters quickly contained multiple fires within the room, limiting significant damage to the left wall. The first-floor room below sustained minor water damage, but no injuries were reported, and the business remained open.

Investigators confirmed the cause was a malfunctioning E-bike battery, highlighting the dangers of charging such devices indoors. Officials urge the public to avoid charging E-bikes and E-scooters inside and to call 911 immediately in case of a fire.
