The Seneca County Substance Abuse Coalition, in partnership with the United Way of Seneca County, has installed a Narcan vending machine at the House of Concern, making the life-saving medication Naloxone available to the public for free.
Narcan, a nasal spray that reverses opioid overdoses, is crucial in emergencies involving drugs like heroin, oxycodone, and fentanyl.
Within its first month, the machine distributed over 900 two-dose boxes, highlighting the community’s growing awareness of the opioid crisis.
The vending machine also offers free Deterra drug deactivation bags and medication lock-boxes, furthering the county’s efforts to prevent overdoses and secure medications safely.
