Jerry K. Drayer, a beloved figure in high school wrestling with a 53-year coaching legacy, passed away unexpectedly on July 20 at the age of 82.
Drayer, who spent nearly three decades as an assistant wrestling coach at Waterloo High School, was known for his deep knowledge and passion for the sport.
Before his time in Waterloo, Drayer taught history and coached multiple sports at Akron High School, where he led numerous teams to Niagara Orleans League titles and was later inducted into the Western New York Wrestling Hall of Fame.
Drayer’s influence extended beyond the wrestling mat, impacting countless students and colleagues.
