The New York Mets (61-55) continued their 10-game road trip on Friday night in Seattle and were blanked, 6-0, by the Mariners (61-56) in the series opener.
New York collected seven hits but went 0-for-8 with runners in scoring position, leaving eight runners on base.
Jose Quintana gave up a two-run home run in the second inning before allowing a two-out, two-run single in the seventh that knocked him out of the game. Adam Ottavino entered in relief of Quintana and also gave up a two-run single.
The Mets look to bounce back and even the series on Saturday at 9:40 p.m. with Sean Manaea on the bump.
