The intersection of Lakeshore Drive and the City Pier near Canandaigua Lake will become a three-way stop starting Wednesday, August 7, to improve pedestrian safety in the high-traffic area.
The decision comes amid increased foot and bicycle traffic and confusion among motorists navigating the current intersection, according to City Council.
The new stop signs aim to prevent accidents and enhance safety. The existing no-left-turn sign from the pier onto Lakeshore Drive will be removed for the new configuration.
Though a roundabout was recommended for the intersection in the past, cost and parking constraints have led to the decision to implement a three-way stop instead.
