Steuben County reported 37 overdoses and one confirmed fatality in June, with three additional deaths under investigation as possible overdoses.
The county had only one overdose death outside of June this year, with the number of overdoses nearly doubling from April to May and remaining steady into June.
Six of the June overdoses are suspected to involve opioids, while eight were attributed to other substances. Narcan was administered in 22 cases, reflecting an increased rate of usage compared to previous years, according to public health officials.
