A once-empty brick wall on Elm Street in Penn Yan now bursts with color, thanks to a vibrant mural created by eight Keuka College students. The mural captures the essence of Penn Yan, showcasing the village’s history, agricultural heritage, and beauty. This project was part of the students’ Field Period internship.
“Our team spent so much time on this project,” said Cori Smith, a visual communication design major from Penn Yan. “To see it finally come to life and be so prominently displayed is a feeling of success and pride I’ve never experienced before.” Keuka College President Amy Storey praised the mural as “absolutely spectacular.”
The mural project was led by 2022 graduates Sarah Tower and Sydnie Brown and included contributions from students across various disciplines and regions, enhancing the local community’s charm and cultural heritage.
