Two sisters, Hailey and Shelby Trumble, who recently graduated from high school, were killed in a car crash in Cayuga County on Thursday evening. The accident occurred near the intersection of Ira Hill and Farnam roads, involving two vehicles, according to Cayuga County Sheriff Brian Schenck.
Hailey, a 2023 graduate, and Shelby, a 2024 graduate of Hannibal Central School District, were remembered for their impact on the community. “This is an incredibly sad day for our students, faculty, and colleagues, and a tremendous loss for the entire community,” the district said in a statement.
A third person involved in the crash was seriously injured and transported to a nearby hospital. The investigation into the accident is ongoing as authorities work to determine the cause of the collision.
