The New York Mets (58-53) 10-game road trip is not off to a good start as they suffered a series loss to the Los Angeles Angels (49-63) on Sunday evening, falling 3-2 as the offense was mostly silenced.
Jose Quintana gave up three runs in the first three innings, and the offense wasn’t able to bail him out as they managed just five hits while going 2-for-10 with runners in scoring position.
Harrison Bader put New York on the board in the second with an RBI single before Francisco Lindor added an RBI single in the fifth.
After Quintana gave the Mets five innings, Adam Ottavino, Dany Young, and Phil Maton combined for three scoreless.
The Mets will head to St. Louis to make up a game with the Cardinals that was postponed earlier this season. The first pitch on Monday is slated for 5:05 p.m.
