Apple reported a reversal in its recent sales slump, with revenue rising 5% to $85.78 billion in its fiscal third quarter, exceeding analyst expectations. The company earned $21.45 billion, or $1.40 per share, marking an 8% increase from the previous year. Despite a 1% decline in iPhone sales, Apple anticipates strong demand for its upcoming iPhone 16, featuring new AI capabilities.
Apple’s AI advancements are poised to enhance its virtual assistant Siri and introduce novel features like personalized emoji creation. The AI tools, included in a free software update, require a special chip available in premium models, driving expectations for an upgrade cycle.
Apple’s services division saw a 14% revenue increase to $24.21 billion. However, the division faces potential challenges from antitrust cases targeting its search engine deal with Google and competition practices. Meanwhile, Apple’s sales in China continued to decline, dropping 7% from last year. Despite these challenges, Apple’s stock has surged 13% since June, reflecting optimism about its AI-driven future.
