Auburn has received $1 million in state funding to support a $7.3 million project to rehabilitate a vacant downtown building at 120 Genesee St. Governor Kathy Hochul announced the award on Tuesday, provided through the Restore NY Communities Initiative, which aids in revitalizing commercial and residential properties.
The six-story building, empty since Chemung Canal Trust Co. moved in 2017, will be transformed by owners Felipe and Katherine Martin.
Plans include commercial space on the first two floors, 14 apartments on the upper floors, and a rooftop garden.
