Judge Kristin Garland, currently serving as an Auburn City Court associate judge, has announced her candidacy for Cayuga County family court judge.
Endorsed by the Cayuga County Democratic Committee, Garland aims to become the first woman to hold a county judgeship, following legislation signed by Gov. Kathy Hochul to address family court backlogs.
Garland’s historic run follows her 2019 achievement as the first female Auburn city judge. With over a decade of experience in family court, including prosecuting child abuse and neglect cases, she emphasizes the importance of female representation in positions impacting family dynamics.
