Gillibrand highlighted the issue during stops in Rochester, East Syracuse, and Albany, noting that servicemembers frequently suffer from severe headaches, hallucinations, and concentration difficulties due to blasts from artillery and rockets. The legislation seeks to enhance screening, treatment, and prevention measures provided by the Department of Defense.
Campaigning for re-election, Gillibrand emphasized the urgency of passing the bill this year, with bipartisan support in the House. “This is the cost of war, and we must address it,” she stated, underscoring the long-term impact on veterans’ health.
