Months after a vehicle theft and burglary in Cayuga County authorities there say an arrest has been made.
In the early morning of February 29 the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office responded to a car accident on Lake Road in the Town of Genoa, where a vehicle was found in a ditch and the female occupant had fled the scene. Deputies quickly discovered that the car had been stolen from the Town of Mentz, and soon after, a nearby homeowner reported a burglary and the theft of their vehicle.
The investigation revealed that Bobbilea Skinner, 34, had stolen the car in Mentz, crashed it on Lake Road, then broke into a nearby home to steal another vehicle. Skinner was later apprehended by Wilkes Barre Police in Pennsylvania on March 1, 2024, where she was held on local charges until her release on July 24, 2024. Upon her release, Skinner was transported back to Cayuga County to face charges of burglary in the second degree, grand larceny in the fourth degree, petit larceny, and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
Skinner was arraigned at the Cayuga County Centralized Arraignment Court and released on her own recognizance despite the District Attorney’s request for bail. Following her arraignment, Skinner was handed over to another law enforcement agency to address additional outstanding charges in New York State.
