The New York Mets bolstered their bullpen on Friday night, acquiring right-handed reliever Ryne Stanek from the Seattle Mariners in exchange for minor-league outfielder Rhylan Thomas.
Stanek, 33, posted a 4.38 ERA across 39.0 innings with the Mariners this season to go along with 44 strikeouts. He also recorded seven saves in 11 opportunities.
Thomas, 24, was the Mets 30th-ranked prospect. He slashed .265/.318/.387 with five home runs and 31 RBI this season between Double-A and Triple-A.
This move comes two weeks after the Mets acquired righty reliever Phil Maton in a trade with the Tampa Bay Rays.
The MLB trade deadline is set for Tuesday, July 30, at 6 p.m.
