Video from a North Syracuse Police dashcam shows two planes getting dangerously close over Syracuse on Monday morning. The footage reveals the paths of the planes crossing, appearing to almost collide.
The FAA stated that an air traffic controller instructed Blue Streak Flight 5511 to “go around” to avoid a departing aircraft on the same runway. Flight 5511, a subsidiary of American Airlines, landed safely after a brief delay.
Syracuse Hancock International Airport confirmed there were no disruptions to operations and directed airspace-related inquiries to the FAA.
