The New York Mets (45-45) opened a six-game homestand on Tuesday night with a 7-5 victory over the Washington Nationals (42-50).

Francisco Lindor and Brandon Nimmo combined to go 4-for-9 with two home runs and six RBI to lead the Mets’ offense.

Lindor opened the scoring with an RBI single and smacked a two-run homer, his 16th of the season. Nimmo blasted a three-run shot, his 15th of the year. Jeff McNeil added a run-scoring double, while Harrison Bader chipped in three hits.

Jose Quintana tossed a gem, allowing just one hit and a walk over seven shutout frames while striking out five. Adam Ottavino and Reed Garrett struggled as they combined to give up five runs, which allowed the Nationals to cut into the lead.

Box Score

The Mets will hand the ball to Luis Severino on Wednesday at 7:10 p.m. as they look to secure a series win.
