  • Staff Report

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Tuesday afternoon, warning that temperatures could feel like 100 degrees in much of Upstate New York.

Temperatures are expected to reach the mid-90s, with high humidity making it feel hotter. The advisory, in effect from noon to 8 p.m., warns that hot weather and humidity can cause heat illnesses, especially for the young and elderly.

The advisory covers Oneida, Yates, Seneca, Cayuga, Onondaga, Steuben, Schuyler, Chemung, Tompkins, Madison, Cortland, Chenango, Otsego, Tioga, Broome, Delaware, and Sullivan counties. Cooler weather is expected Wednesday, with temperatures dropping into the 80s as Tropical Storm Beryl’s remnants bring heavy rain and potential flooding.
