The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office shares updates in its July newsletter. Sheriff Jim Allard reports a safe and busy summer, with two successful boater safety courses and a growing jail garden. June saw the arrest of a Virginia fugitive and a suspect in a Woodhull murder case. The office also received a $601,000 NYS grant for a county-wide law enforcement records management system.

The newsletter honors the late Jerry Miller, a longtime Steuben County Public Works employee, and celebrates the retirement of Cheryl Crocker, Director of Probation. The Sheriff’s team participated in various trainings and community events, showcasing their dedication to public safety.

In June, deputies handled numerous investigations, including murder, assault, burglary, and child endangerment. The Patrol Division managed multiple domestic incidents and three impaired driving arrests. The Sheriff thanks the community for their support and commends his team’s outstanding performance.
